Obesity should not be considered a term of endearment

It is a sad day when we celebrate obesity and say its okay to be overweight. As a society, we have come up with ways to describe being fat in terms that are more obliging to the masses of the overweight population. We have to be politically correct. What about being scientifically correct?  Is it really big boned, (there is no such thing as “bigger bones” genetically!) thick, cuddly, modern, plus size, etc.…call it what you want but acknowledge that it is still an illness. Do we celebrate herpes and call it something warm and pleasant like happy dots, or love sores? No, we call it an illness!  We have plus size models and even nightclubs dedicated to the obese and we are making up excuses for what is nothing more than a curable disorder. There are conditions that are beyond control but the over weight population grows because we are beginning to accept that obesity is now becoming the “norm”!  You have to be willing to work hard to lose weight and be healthy. You first have to acknowledge that you are ill, and that you have the power within you to cure yourself. It’s all within a person’s power…the development of discipline!
